China Shipbuild 2008

In the first half of 2007, Chinese shipbuilding enterprise have exported amount of ship production ranked USD5.49 billion, up 61%. Shipbuilding completion reached 7.55 million deadweight ton, up 43%, among which export ships accounted for 83%.

China shipbuilding capability will amount to 21 million deadweight ton, sharing over 25% of total world market till 2010; and will reach 28 million deadweight ton in 2015.

Nowadays, there are more than 3000 diversified ship manufacturers in China, among which 431 are large or middle enterprises. The National Defense Technology Committee promulgated “Ship Production Evaluation Standard” in May, 2007, which claimed specific requirement to ship manufacturers on manufacture qualification, management level and shipbuilding quality. So far as these enterprises are concerned, the renovation of old shipyard, planning of new shipyard and development of supporting units show a huge market for the advanced equipment, ship design technique, management & database system and environment protection equipment for shipbuilding enterprises.

Shanghai is one of the main shipbuilding bases in China and the international communication platform of marine industry as well.
